Meet The Pack: Where Dogs Find Fulfillment, Not Just Fitness

More than just a walk. Join our small, managed packs for high-intensity exercise, socialization, and true canine fulfillment. Serving Barrie, Midhurst, and Springwater.

Why Your Dog Needs More Than Just a Walk

For high-energy breeds like Collies, Labs, and Huskies, a neighborhood stroll often isn't enough to burn off the day's energy. At Run the Dog, we believe that running for people is about fitness, but running for dogs is about fulfillment. Our structured pack running sessions are designed to bridge the gap between your busy schedule and your dog’s biological need to work, move, and explore.

Unlike a chaotic dog park visit, our runs provide routine and purpose. We help transform restless, bored, or destructive behaviors into calm contentment by providing the intense physical outlet and mental stimulation your dog craves. Whether you have a super-athlete or a nervous pup needing confidence, our pack environment is curated to help them thrive.

Safety, Structure, and Confidence Building

Safety is the foundation of freedom. Our pack runs are not a "free-for-all"; they are carefully managed, structured events led personally by our founder, Chantal. We keep our packs small—strictly limited to a maximum of 6 dogs—to ensure every dog receives individual attention and supervision.  This structure is vital for building confidence.

For shy or reactive dogs, moving as a "crew" in a controlled environment allows them to socialize safely without the pressure of face-to-face greetings. Every run includes reinforced training on leash manners, recall, and impulse control, ensuring your dog doesn't just come home tired, but better behaved. We are fully insured and adhere to rigorous safety protocols, including mandatory assessments and age restrictions, to give you total peace of mind.

FAQS

Pack Running Sessions – Frequently Asked Questions

  • My dog is high energy but has never run long distance. Can they join?

Yes! We assess every dog individually. We recommend starting with our Short Distance (4-6km) runs and building stamina over time.

  • Is there an age requirement for running?

Safety is paramount. For our structured running services, dogs must be at least 15 months old (18 months for longer distances) to protect their developing joints.

  • My dog is nervous or reactive. Is this safe?

Absolutely. Many of our "crew" members started as nervous pups. The forward motion of the pack builds confidence, and we strictly manage interactions to ensure safety.

  • Do you run in all weather?

We run in most weather conditions to maintain routine! However, we will cancel or modify services in extreme heat, cold, or dangerous storms for the dogs' safety.

  • How do I get started?

All new dogs start with a mandatory Private Intro Run ($50 + HST). This allows us to assess your dog's fitness and temperament before introducing them to a pack.
